Why We Called it Must Seed

Why “Must Seed”?

People often ask why we called the brand Must Seed.

The name comes from Matthew 17:20:

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed… nothing will be impossible for you.”

When we first had the idea of building a clothing brand two years ago, this was the very first verse that came to mind. Looking back now, almost everything about the business has changed. The vision has evolved. The designs have evolved. Even I have changed.

But the verse hasn’t.

It’s continued to meet us in every season.

When Jesus speaks about faith the size of a mustard seed, He’s talking about something incredibly small. A mustard seed can barely be noticed from a distance, yet He reminds us that even faith that small, when placed in God, is enough for Him to do what we never could on our own.

People have also asked us why we didn’t simply call the brand Mustard Seed, or Must Seek, or choose something completely different.

The answer is that Must Seed carries a meaning that felt deeply personal to us.

To us, it represents the idea that you can’t force faith onto someone. You can’t make somebody believe. You can’t push Christianity, Catholicism or Christ onto another person.

But you can plant a seed.

That idea is incredibly personal because it’s exactly how my own faith began.

Nobody forced me to become Catholic. Nobody pressured me into believing. I was given a choice. What people did do was share their lives with me. They spoke about their experiences, answered my questions, lived out their faith, and little by little they planted seeds.

Over time, those small moments began to grow.

Looking back now, I realise my conversion wasn’t one defining moment. It was countless seeds being planted by people who probably had no idea how much their words would one day mean to me.

That’s the heart behind our name.

Not to convince.
Not to argue.
Not to force.

Simply to plant a seed.

Maybe it’s through a conversation.
Maybe it’s through a story.
Maybe it’s through a piece of clothing that opens the door to a question someone otherwise never would’ve asked.

And maybe that’s all God is asking us to do.

That verse has become more meaningful to me than ever in this current season of life.

I’ve walked away from stability into the unknown. Not because I have everything figured out, but because I have enough faith to take the next step and trust God with the rest.

That’s what Must Seed represents.

Not certainty.
Not having all the answers.
Not believing everything will unfold exactly how I imagine.

Just choosing, every day, to place whatever faith I have into God’s hands.

Whether this brand grows beyond anything we’ve imagined or quietly serves exactly the people God intends it to, our prayer is the same:

That it points people back to Him.

Because if this is God’s will, then His purpose - not ours - will be accomplished.
